MP Cécile Hemmen from the LSAP had asked if there were no language barriers with the test.

To pass the theory part of the driving test, a deep knowledge of the Highway Code ("Code de la Route") is required. Young drivers seem to take this to heart.

Statistics provided by the Ministry for Mobility show that 9,139 people have taken the test so far this year, of which 7,992 passed - a success rate of 87.4%.

LSAP MP Cécile Hemmen had enquired whether there were language problems with the test. Not so, according to Minister François Bausch, as the numbers showed. Besides, the test can be taken in Luxembourgish, German, French, Portuguese and English. Other languages are possible with the help of a translator.

The Code de la Route, issued by the road safety agency, is available in French and German. There are currently no plans to publish it in other languages, says François Bausch.
