Craft Workers UnionThe flow of capital needs to be maintained, says Michel Reckinger

RTL Today
On Monday morning, the President of the Craft Workers Union (la Fédération des Artisans) sat down for an interview with RTL Radio.

Although Reckinger welcomed the government's new support programmes, including the prolongation of partial unemployment until June 2021, he maintained his demand that people restricted to short-term employment receive 80% of their salaries: "The flow of capital cannot be overcomplicated and needs to be maintained."

The President of the Craft Workers Union also reiterated his belief that government employees should be subjected to the same 80% salary rate, for which he was criticised by both the Minister of Labour and the Civil Service Union. Reckinger explained that their outrage only proves their lack of willingness to engage in a discussion on sectorial fairness.

Reckinger further conveyed his concerns over the electricity sector, noting that recent deals conducted by the government and Enovos may create a monopoly that will eventually put private electricians out of business. Reckinger thus elaborated on a planned economic competition reform, which his union began promoting in 2018.
