The initiative, entitled “fund of revitalisation and solidarity”, aims at supporting businesses from the tourism industry, event management, and the hospitality sector.

The main goal is to preserve jobs, which is why the biggest support is awarded to businesses that try to move their employees out of partial unemployment. Simone Beissel noted: “Every business will receive €1,250 per employee they can provide with work again, and €250 for everyone remaining partially unemployed. The same applies to self-employed people, although the support is calculated based on the number of different employers the person in question works for.”

The second legal adaption passed by the chamber aims at supporting retail businesses. Those that had to stop selling goods during the lockdown will be compensated if deficits decreased by at least 50% between 15 March and 15 May, if they did not make use of partial unemployment, and if no employee was let go. They will also receive financial support if they fulfill certain criteria.

The third and final adaptation aims at incentivising businesses to invest, meaning they will be eligible for better loans to make long-term investments. The government’s budget for this initiative amounts to €30 million in total, according to the Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Lex Delles.
