A recent survey carried out by the ING bank found that the vast majority of expats in Luxembourg agree that expatriation was a very good decision.
87% of expats living in Luxembourg think that their decision to move to the Grand Duchy was a good one, a recent ING survey found. The respondents said they would "highly recommend a life abroad, with the average recommendation score for moving to Luxembourg being 8.5 out of 10 points (the global recommendation figure for a life abroad being 8.2)."
The survey also found that the majority of foreign expats plan on staying in Luxembourg in the long-term. 70% of the respondents said they are willing to stay in the Grand Duchy for the rest of their life. A quarter of respondents plan on leaving Luxembourg when they retire.
On the downside, for 8 out of 10 respondents property prices were higher than expected. 54% of newcomers also said they were negatively surprised by grocery prices.
73% of respondents would recommend to newcomers to buy a property within five years after arrival.
"Better quality of life" and "better remuneration" were the two main incentives for expats to settle in Luxembourg.
