Various media reported the cancellation on Wednesday morning and official statements now confirm the decision.
Always one of the more popular events on the Luxembourg cultural calendar, this year's event was due to be yet another huge success.
The annual event was at once popular with Luxembourg's vibrant population but also a massive opportunity for the country's societies and charities to raise funds and awareness.
The announcement comes with the committee stressing that the health and safety of the visitors and volunteers was a top priority during COVID-19.
The statement reads as follows:
The committee of the Bazar International de Luxembourg has been closely monitoring the situation surrounding Covid-19 and its related public health concerns, and after much consideration, has decided to cancel the 2020 edition of the Bazar International weekend, scheduled to be held on 28 and 29 November at LuxExpoTheBox.
It is with deep regret that this decision was taken, but the health and safety of the numerous visitors and volunteers of the Bazar have top priority.
The International Bazar weekend was scheduled to take place on 28 and 29 November 2020 at LuxExpo The Box.
