LockdownStreet Angels helping the homeless through the crisis

The corona crisis has brought new challenges to Luxembourg's homeless population, who receive fewer donations than before the lockdown.

The association “Stroossenenglen” (Street Angels) is working hard on providing homeless people with vital resources during these difficult times, such as food, drink, and clothes.

The corona crisis has generated a new series of challenges for Luxembourg’s homeless population. While everything has been on lockdown, far fewer donations were handed out in the capital’s streets. The Street Angels have since started coming to the city with a truck to provide the essentials.

Apart from this immediate response, the association is also dedicating its attention to getting people oriented within governmental structures. Currently, there are fifteen people leading the organisation.

In the evening, there are usually around eight volunteers working the streets of the city. To ensure that this service would stay alive during the lockdown, the association arranged a special permit with the police. On average, around thirty homeless people receive a meal from the organisation.

To protect everybody involved in the process, sanitary precautions have been elevated to match the national standards of safety distances and facial masks.

The initiative “Stroossenenglen” was founded in 2018 and is always welcoming donations.
