According to Gibéryen, both the chamber and the government have cooperated in a very productive manner during the crisis. The politician specifically praised the sanitary measures taken thus far.
When it comes to the government’s exit strategy, Gibéryen seemed less optimistic however. He criticised the reopening of large stores while small businesses had to remain closed. He underlined that the Horeca sector was dependent on being allowed to relaunch full operations by 25 May, especially since infection numbers are not expected to rise again.
The politician also warned from ongoing situations of abuse during these difficult times. He noted that for instance the vote on the controversial CETA trade agreement between the EU and Canada on Wednesday could be impacted, since large-scale protests are prohibited at the moment. Gibéryen expressed his desires for the vote to be postponed.
Finally, the ADR politician stated his demand that the state of crisis should be lifted no later than 22 June.
