Kmiotek announced at a press conference that he will not stand again at the convention on 14 March.

Kmiotek has been co-president of Déi Gréng since 2013. He currently shares the presidency with MP Djuna Bernard.

He explained that now he had turned 60, he wanted to take the opportunity to see how to organise one's life, and leave room for new talents.

Kmiotek considered his political engagement positively  within the Green Party in recent years, saying he felt he has helped make the country fairer and more sustainable.

The call for candidates to replace him in the role of co-president has been launched to members of the Green Party.
