As construction on the northern part of the development nears its end, the population of the municipality of Suessem is set to see a big increase, posing potential infrastructure challenges.
The southern district of Belval is still under construction with the development of a new school complex called “Kannercampus”, the children’s campus. 300 students will attend next September, with the number of pupils expected to double in the coming years.
Work on the southern district began in autumn 2018, with a number of single-family homes to be built on the 120 hectare development.
“Live, work, learn” is the motto ascribed to the Belval project. The municipality of Suessem, which also covers Belvaux, has around 17,500 inhabitants. The population is expected to increase by 5,000 when the new districts are complete.
