RTL Lëtzebuerg is not organising a competition in which Facebook users can win an iPhone X. The fake competition is a scam set up by a Facebook page using the RTL logo to make itself seem legitimate. The page, titled R T L, is not at all associated with RTL Lëtzebuerg.
The scam, which claims to offer 200 free iPhone Xs as they did not come with security films, asking users to like and share the post, contact them by private message, and then comment ‘Done’. As our screenshots below show, Facebook users are told they just need to pay for delivery and consequently should give their User ID, password, and OTP for their online banking to do so.
Anybody who receives the messages should not respond to them.
In general, RTL never organises competitions requiring Facebook users to contact them via Messenger. Instead, competition requirements on Facebook usually revolve around liking the page and commenting on the post. RTL advises users to always verify the profile claiming to hold the competition. RTL only has four Facebook pages on which it holds competitions, namely RTL Lëtzebuerg, RTL 5Minutes, RTL Today, and RTL You.
