Construction starts this weekendRoads blocked off in Luxembourg City

Both road repairs and tram construction will be taking place on the capital's streets over the weekend and into the beginning of next week.

Some works begin this weekend, others will start Monday. In any case, best avoid certain areas that will either be closed completely, or just plain tricky to navigate.

Place de l’Étoile

Luxtram will be resurfacing roads around Place de L’Etoile, parts of the Route D’Arlon (stretch between the Place de l’Etoile and square de New York) and the Boulevard de la Foire (section located between Place de l’Etoile and Rue de la Chapelle).

  • from Saturday the 26 October at 6am until Monday, October 28 at 5am: narrowing of the traffic lanes around the whole Place de l’Etoile
  • from Sunday 27 October at 12 noon until Monday 28 October at 5 am: complete closing of the Route d’Arlon on the stretch between the Place de l’Etoile and the square de New York.

Slight detour: 20 metres of roadworks result in 65km detour in Dorset (UK)This will impact public transport during the day on Sunday on the bus lines 8, 12, 21 and 28.

Bonnevoie

The Roads and the Traffic Departments will be resurfacing Rue de Bonnevoie on the section between Avenue de la Gare and Rue Fort Neipperg (including the intersection).

So from 5am on Sunday the 27 October to 5am on Monday, October 28:

  • Rue de Bonnevoie will be completely closed between Avenue de la Gare and Rue Fort Neipperg (including the crossroads).
  • Rue Bender will be one-way from Rue Fort Wallis towards and until Rue Fort Neipperg.

This will impact public transport from 5am on Saturday the 26 October to 5am on Monday the 28 October 28 on lines 3/30, 5/6, 15, 32 and CN3.

Pénétrante Sud

The Bridges and Roads Authority will be carrying out works on the Chaussée de la Pénétrante Sud between Rue de Bonnevoie and the Route de Thionville from 10pm on Monday the 28 October to 5am on Wednesday the 30 October.

These works will involve the complete closure of these areas:

  • from Monday the 28 October at 10pm until Tuesday the 29 October at 5am, and
  • from 10pm on Tuesday the 29 October until 5am on Wednesday the 30 October.

The bus lines concerned will follow a detour via the Rangwee and the Route de Thionville to the Büchler Bridge and the central station. No stops will be removed.

Boulevard Franklin D. Roosevelt

Luxtram will be working on Boulevard Franklin D. Roosevelt between Place de Bruxelles and Rue Philippe II, and will involve the following traffic changes from 10pm on Tuesday the 29 October until 5am on Wednesday the 30 October:

  • Boulevard Franklin D. Roosevelt, between Place de Bruxelles and Rue Philippe II, will be closed to all traffic.
  • Access to the Saint-Esprit car park will remain open to vehicles coming from Boulevard Franklin D. Roosevelt, next to the Viaduc Bridge.
