The underground Martyrs car park, also known as the "Rousegäertchen", is unlikely to reopen any time soon after it suffered damage in a fire in September.

Mayor of Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer, announced at a municipal council meeting on Monday that the car park would be subjected to a complete renovation, with works expecting to last around two years.

Polfer explained the car park did not have automatic fire extinguishing facilities on all floors - the Knuedler and Place du Théâtre car parks are in the same situation.

Update - Rousegaertchen fire: Car park to remain closed for months, no fire sprinkler system on level -1
