As you know from yesterday, Luxembourg has been placed on orange alert today due to high temperatures. Here's what you need to know.

On Monday morning Meteolux issued an orange warning for Tuesday afternoon, which covers the whole country until 9pm.

The latest weather update forecasts up to 35 °C in the afternoon, with the heat continuing into the evening - it's not expected to drop much below 28 °C.

It's expected that air quality may deteriorate as a result, in which case authorities will implement lower speed limits on the motorways - 90km/h rather than the usual 130km/h.

Beyond that, our recommendations remain as ever: drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, avoid the sun during the hottest hours, and make sure that children and the elderly are well equipped to deal with the heat. Don't take your dogs for walks during the day (a quick pee in the garden/on the corner will do), and do NOT leave them in direct sunlight or vehicles!
