Dorvil, who grew up in a small town in northern Haiti, secured a scholarship to study in Germany and Switzerland and now holds the position of senior economist at the European Investment Bank.

He recently appeared on Today Radio‘s The Home Stretch to discuss his charity organisation.

In 2020, Dorvil established Kiskeya Luxembourg with the help of his friends. The charity aims to provide support to Haitian children.

Political instability and violence have rocked Haiti since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in 2021, leaving many families struggling financially, especially in the more rural parts of the island.

Kiskeya’s primary objective is to offer a daily warm meal to approximately 150 school-aged children, which often serves as their sole source of warm sustenance. “So that at the end of the day with a better education we can have a better Haiti,” Patrick concludes.

But the charity has wide-ranging ambitions, hoping to provide scholarships to more children in rural areas. An annual donation of just €60 allows individuals to sponsor a child and contribute to providing basic infrastructure. Details of how to get involved can be found on their website.

While education remains their main focus, the charity is also exploring ways to support environmental causes, as issues such as the plastic invasion are threatening local biodiversity. To find out more about their projects and what Patrick misses the most about the island, make sure to listen to the full interview.
