Another increase was registered in the number of active infections in the Grand Duchy. On 28 March, there were 3,479 known infections, while 56,853 people were considered recovered. The reproduction rate thus decreased from 1.13 to 1.11. At the same time, the positivity rate of tests climbed by 0.05 to 2.51%.

Last week, the incidence rate was set at 269 cases per 100,000 citizens, which is significantly above the tally that Germany considers a high risk zone. In mid March, the rate was still at 250.

The official review issued by the Ministry of Health further conveys that 3,183 people entered isolation (+16%), while 5,456 patients had to quarantine last week (+16%).

Progress was made on the vaccination front. 9,480 people received their first shot last week, while 2,832 got their second jab. By 28 March, 92,574 doses had been administered. According to the current schedule, it is expected that close to 130,000 people will be vaccinated by the end of April.

The virus presence also remains elevated in the country's sewage water plants.

Finally, coronavirus variants: the British mutation is currently making up close to 69% of the country's cases. The variant from South Africa is responsible for 23%.

The Ministry of Health also reminds people that both consultation centres will be closed on Easter Monday.
