
45 pupils are currently undergoing homeschooling, according to new figures published by the Minister of Education, Claude Meisch.
In his response to a parliamentary question raised by LSAP MP Francine Closener, Meisch explained that there are currently no plans to stream lessons online for primary school pupils, unlike their secondary school counterparts.
Occupational health decides which tasks can be carried out by teaching staff deemed to be vulnerable, while additional safety measures can be added. Pregnant women have also recently been added to the vulnerable category in Luxembourg.
Once a teacher is placed in quarantine, distance learning comes into play, according to the Minister's statement. In primary schools, a quarantined teacher is replaced by a substitute - in alignment with the recent Chamber announcement regarding the recruitment of new school staff.
Secondary school teachers in quarantine must hold their classes online, although replacement teachers or caretaker staff can be drafted in where needed.
