Luxembourg's Inland Revenue is still waiting for a number of tax returns from last year, according to a parliamentary response by acting finance minister Yuriko Backes.

As of mid-October, 48% of individuals and 65% of businesses had yet to submit their tax returns for 2022, Backes wrote in response to a parliamentary question submitted by Pirates MP Sven Clement.

The tax office is set to issue a reminder to taxpayers who are yet to submit their declaration on Wednesday this week. The deadline is 31 December.

According to Backes’ response, the tax department has already processed a number of last year’s tax returns and improved their wait times compared to previous years, in part due to an increase in staffing.
