According to Minister of Health Paulette Lenert, the situation in doctor's practices and paediatric hospitals is serious.

Lenert confirmed at a press conference on Friday morning that the situation at Kannerklinik (Children’s Clinic) at the Centre Hospitalier (CHL) is tense.

There is also significant pressure a doctor’s practices, due to the current wave of bronchiolitis and flu cases among children.

The peak of flu infections is expected to happen in two weeks, which is one to two months earlier compared to previous years.

Given the seriousness of the situation, paediatricians and hospital staff recommend only children with acute cases to visit their doctor or the emergency room.

Places where large masses of people gather should also be avoided.

Parents are eligible to receive a certificate for personal leave at the doctor’s. Vulnerable people are also being advised to get a flu vaccine.
