Minister of Transport Yuriko Backes was joined by Minister of Tourism Eric Thill to present the 14 circuits making up this year’s cycling extravaganza at a press briefing on Thursday.
Selected routes will only be accessible over a couple of weekends this summer, while others will be available for the duration of the event. 59 municipalities are participating in the “Vëlosummer” event this year, with over 500km of cycle paths for bike enthusiasts to discover.
Last year, around 31,000 people participated in the “Vëlosummer” event, which underlined the success of the initiative, the ministers said. Backes also announced that a number of new cycle paths were set to open by June next year, with work continuing over the coming months, as well as new construction beginning on the expansion of the national network of paths.
