Traffic accidents

At around noon on Friday, a vehicle drove off the CR142 coming from Oberdonven towards Flaxweiler. A police patrol went to the scene and was able to find the driver, who was uninjured. According to initial reports, the driver lost control of her car on a left-hand bend and ended up in a field. She tested positive for alcohol and her driving licence was confiscated.

Another accident was reported at around 3.40 pm in Tadler, where a vehicle flipped. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment, and tests showed they had been drink driving. They were handed a provisional driving ban.

On late Friday afternoon, a vehicle was reported travelling from Niederfeulen to Ettelbruck with damaged tyres, stopping on the N15 and partially blocking the road. Both the vehicle and driver were found at the scene; the breathalyser test was positive and the driver’s licence was confiscated as a result.

On Friday night, the police conducted a vehicle check in Pommerloch. The officers could smell alcohol on the driver and issued a breathalyser. The test results were positive, and the driver was given a provisional driving ban.

In the early hours of Saturday, a police patrol spotted a vehicle travelling in an irregular line from rue Kallekerbesch to the A13 motorway in the direction of Pétange. Despite clear signals from the officers to follow them to the next exit, the driver continued towards Pétange. The vehicle was finally stopped at a roundabout, and the driver tested positive for alcohol. He too was temporarily banned from driving.

Also on Friday night, a police patrol in Clausen was informed that a woman had been hit by a vehicle in a car park, and that the driver had continued on his way without paying any attention to the victim. The vehicle was seen leaving the car park, after which police pursued it on foot and stopped it near Place Emile Mousel. The driver refused to get out of the vehicle and refused to submit to an alcohol test. A temporary driving ban was imposed as a result. A small quantity of drugs was also seized during the search of the vehicle. Fortunately, the victim was not injured in the collision.

Fights, noise complaints, ...

Between Friday evening and Saturday morning, the police also had to be deployed in around 45 cases due to conflicts, fights and excess noise. In most cases, the situation could be resolved on the spot.

For example, on Friday night, a fight between three men was reported near Esch-Alzette station. The police patrol did not observe any fighting on the spot, although they did come across a man who was visibly drunk, behaving aggressively and attacking passers-by. Because of his condition and because he represented a danger to himself and others, he was taken into custody after a medical examination.

Theft in Luxembourg City

Friday night, a robbery was reported on Avenue Monterey, during which initial reports indicated that a man had been assaulted by several people, and that they stole his cap. The victim was not injured.

However, the people were not found. Investigations have been launched.

Drug dealer arrested

Finally, a police patrol in the station area spotted a suspicious person suspected of being a drug dealer on Thursday afternoon. When the man was checked, he behaved uncooperatively and attempted to flee.

He was immobilised, and a body search resulted in the seizure of 84 packets of drugs and cash. The suspect was arrested.
