MPs Myriam Cecchetti from the Left and Marc Goergen from the Pirate Party recently filed a parliamentary enquiry concerned with details about the cost-of-living and energy allowances for low-income households.
In her response, Minister for Family Affairs and Integration Corinne Cahen explained that 33,000 demands had been filed by the end of September. Close to 22,400 households were granted the energy allowance, but 2,700 of them did not receive the cost-of-living allowance.
Following a recalculation, 435 additional households, whose initial requests were denied, also received the energy allowance. Minister Cahen further noted that due to the high demand, there have been some delays in payment. Current wait times are between one and two months.
