The voluntary Covid-19 prevalence tests were offered to students in their final year of school, as well as those in the construction sector, and those in retirement homes. Up until last week, 3,750 tests were carried out in 14 retirement and care structures, testing 80% of staff (2,213 people) and 93% of residents (1,537).
10 residents and 9 staff members tested positive for the virus. All of these were asymptomatic.
The results were given to the people tested, and their doctors. Managers of the homes also received the results in order to plan potential isolation measures.
In cases of people with dementia, their results were given to those with power of attorney.
The Minister of Health told CSV MPs Spautz and Galles that further systematic tests were currently not planned to be repeated for this group, in a response to a parliamentary question.
The cluster tests were also not designed for elderly people living at home, explained Lenert.
