A first supply of 1,400 vaccine doses are expected to arrive in Luxembourg in August. A total of 109,000 doses have been ordered via HERA, the European Commission’s Health Preparedness and Response Authority.

The authorised monkeypox vaccine is called Imvanex and manufactured by Bavarian Nordic. Luxembourg’s Superior Council for Infectious Diseases is currently preparing recommendations for the respective vaccination campaign.

So far, about 13,000 cases of monkeypox infections have been confirmed across Europe. The majority of patients are men aged 31 to 40.
