Recurring violence at local events22-year-old in coma after Folschette party brawl

RTL Today
A young man remains in a coma after suffering severe injuries during a brawl at a party in Folschette just over a week ago. The 22-year-old was seriously hurt in the altercation, which took place at an event organised by the local youth club.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in pre-trial detention. The criminal police continue to investigate.

Incidents of violence like this are reportedly not uncommon at such gatherings, and the same group of individuals is often involved.

The group, known locally for inciting fights, has been a recurring presence at similar events throughout the summer. Various sources have confirmed to our colleagues from RTL Radio that the Folschette brawl is not an isolated case, and the situation has become a growing concern for local clubs and associations.

The local chapter of the Democratic Party’s youth section, the Young Democrats (JDL), has issued a statement calling for stronger measures to address the issue. The JDL notes that this group, allegedly led by a specific individual, has been causing trouble at local parties for years. Despite several fines being issued, no further action has been taken.

Questions are now being raised about whether this latest incident could have been prevented, given that the individuals involved are well-known in the region for their willingness to use violence. Security personnel were present at the party but allowed the group to stay, reportedly because they were not causing trouble at the time.

The JDL’s northern Luxembourg chapter has called for increased police patrols, arguing that even a single additional patrol could have made a difference at the recent event.
