
The masks, with 94% filtration, had been purchased "mainly from two Chinese producers". Unfortunately some of the masks were distributed to the country's health staff before being recalled.
"279,400 (non-compliant) masks have been distributed, including 200,000 to clinics so that they can establish a reserve stock. 63,000 masks have been distributed to dentists and 16,400 to state administrations", Lenert writes.
The minister says that the logistics unit has launched a recall of its masks and that masks complying with European standards were then distributed to hospitals, dentists and members of state administrations.
Lenert further assured that this would not happen again. She explained that the Luxembourg Institute for Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety and Quality of Products and Services (ILNAS) "monitors the Luxembourg market" and "carries out checks in the country's shops and pharmacies".
Should the institute come across non-compliant masks, the minister ensures that "the necessary measures are taken to withdraw them from the Luxembourg market" and to recall them from potential buyers.
