Of the 17 people who died, 3 lost their lives on the streets of Luxembourg. Only last week, the first death of a homeless person in 2019 was reported.
The victims were 20 to 70 years old.
The ceremony was under the theme "The looks from others hurt me". It is because of these looks from others, or rather people averting their eyes, that homeless people become "nobody", vicar general Leo Wagener explained during the service.
People who have experienced judgemental looks from others should try not to spread the negativity further, Wagener went on to say.
