14 motorists were stopped for excessive use of speed - one of whom was travelling at 140km/h in a 90km/h zone.
Three people, including the latter, had their licences confiscated on the night. Two of these were found to be over the alcohol limit.
On Friday morning, police continued to conduct checks as part of their winter safety campaign, noting 11 infractions. Nine of these were due to motorists using their mobile phones while driving. Two more drivers were travelling without seatbelts. All were written up and fined.
