Priority groups were vaccinated last week. Since Tuesday, all other staff members of the CHL have been able to make appointments. So far, the hospital has observed a relatively high willingness to be vaccinated among its employees.
Over the past seven days, almost 400 staff members have been vaccinated against Covid-19 at the CHL. This corresponds to about 10% of the hospital staff. On top of that, 187 people have already been vaccinated at the Centre Victor Hugo. In general, the demand is high and appointments are booked quickly.
Grégory Gaudillot, the managing pharmacist at the CHL, states that the initial appointments were booked almost immediately. He explains that there is a real demand, a real expectation from the professionals who work in the hospital to receive the vaccine. The hospital also has a counter on its intranet page which shows the number of CHL employees who have received the vaccine, a simple tool which according to Gaudillot may also have a knock-on effect.
As everything works well and the volunteers always arrive on time for their appointments, the hospital can now vaccinate 72 people a day. According to specialists, side effects are not to be feared.
Infectious disease expert Dr Pit Braquet states that it is important to explain to people that almost everyone will experience pain in their arm the following day or, in rarer cases, tiredness or a slight fever. The rest are, according to Dr Braquet, “very rare side effects” and nothing to be afraid of.
According to these two CHL employees, people’s reservations about the vaccine are unfounded. For them, the vaccine is the only solution.
Gaudillot states that he personally always recommends getting vaccinated to protect others and to be able to start a new life, because continuing the situation as it is today is “a bit complicated for everyone”. According to Gaudillot, the vaccine is the only tool that allows society to move towards a new beginning.
With the doses already delivered and the deliveries to follow, around 1,700 CHL staff will be able to be vaccinated by the end of February.
