On Monday, 26 June, the Customs and Excise Agency, in collaboration with the Veterinary and Food Administration, carried out inspections at “various specialty grocery stores across the country.”
The purpose of these inspections was to ensure compliance with food safety legislation.
During the inspections, authorities discovered “multiple instances of non-compliance with the relevant regulations,” particularly relating to traceability, labelling, and product expiration dates.
In total, the judicial authorities have seized “approximately 1,600 kg of meat and dairy products from five locations throughout the country.” Official charges have been filed against companies found to be in violation of the regulations.
