The NETWORK, an English-speaking professional women’s association based in Luxembourg, is set to hold an event dedicated to combating burnout in Luxembourg City on Wednesday 17 January.

Burnout, usually the result of long-term mental overload and chronic stress, is becoming more and more common in industrialised countries, and is thought to be linked to the rapid transformation of the workplace in the 21st century.

In Europe today, it is estimated that one out of every two leaves of absence from work is linked to chronic stress.

According to INAMI figures, more than two-thirds of cases of disability due to burnout or depression involve women, accounting for 68% of all cases. Women have also seen a significant increase of almost 50% in burnout and depression-related disabilities over the past five years.
