TEDxLuxembourgCity had its last appearance here on RTL Today Radio in June 2022, when Dirk Daenen, curator and organiser of TEDX for Luxembourg City, presented the concept of an “Idea and Design Competition” for minors. Almost 10 months later, the deadline for a submission is just around the corner on Monday, 10 April.
TEDxLuxembourgCity is an independent TEDx event hosted in Luxembourg City at the Forum Geesseknäppchen since 2013. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the organisation invites all 12- to 18-year-old students to participate in the 2023 competition. The winner of the competition will be invited to give their talk live at the TEDxLuxembourgCityED event on 10 May!

In the interview, Marion Noviel revealed that she joined Dirk Daenen and his TEDxLuxembourgCity Team eight months ago as Marketing Officer. Living in Luxembourg for the past 10 years, she is now in charge of TEDx via digital communication - website and social media mainly. She is also in charge of organising and setting up events. An advocate for education in Luxembourg, she invites all youngsters to participate in the event as she’s convinced it provides valuable skills that young people don’t necessarily gain in school.
Giacomo is a 15-year-old student attending the European School in Luxembourg. He is a typical “global citizen": born in Italy, grew up in Washington DC and is currently back in Europe where he enjoys hanging out with friends, reading tons of fantasy books and playing video games. This was also the idea he talked about when he won last year’s competition: How video games are important and should be incorporated into school curricula.
He, too, is a big supporter of the event as he says that he’s learned a ton of tricks on how to speak in public and just generally how to present himself. Skills he can use at school and in real life!
If you, too, think you have a really good idea that you want to spread to the world, you can still sign up for the competition until Monday, 10 April, at midnight on the organisation’s website.
And if you’re still undecided or just want to check out Giacomo’s speech from last year, check out their socials: they’re on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter under @tedxluxembourgcity.
