Sessions at this year’s European Microfinance Week will focus on topics such as digitisation, client protection, green inclusive finance, investment, and a particular emphasis on financial inclusion for refugees, which is also the central theme of the 2024 European Microfinance Award.
The event brings together experts, practitioners, academics, investors, and other key figures in hybrid session formats to encourage extensive Q&A and audience engagement.
Additionally, more than 25 thematic workshops will allow for in-depth exploration of topics such as the outcomes and impacts of microfinance, access to basic services, women’s financial inclusion, forest financing, and many more. Three plenary sessions will complement this program, addressing major issues such as the future of inclusive finance, the inclusion of refugees and forcibly displaced persons, and the opportunities offered by Fintechs.
The event is organised by the ‘European Microfinance Platform’ (e-MFP), based in Luxembourg. The e-MFP is the leading network of organisations and individuals active in the field of financial inclusion in developing countries, bringing together more than 120 members.
The event will also award the European Microfinance Award of €100,000 and €10,000 for the two runners-up, with the three finalists being Al Majmoua from Lebanon, Palestine for Credit and Development (FATEN) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Rural Finance Initiative Limited (RUFI) from Uganda. More information on those organisations can be found on the award website.
