Since the Brexit vote, the accessibility to performing in the UK has been growing concern for EU artists and entertainers. Now there is more clarity, albeit disappointment.

EU artists performing in the UK after January 2021 will require visas, Politico reported on Wednesday, after a policy paper published by the Home Office stated that EU artists will be subject to the same rules that currently apply to non-EU artists.

Under the free movement principle today, EU artists can travel to the UK without applying for work permits or visas. This will change as of January 2021, when the Brexit transition period has ended. Music industry groups in the UK have displayed their disappointment, calling for the government to loosen up visa requirements for entertainment workers.
