TEDxLuxembourgCity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has announced the launch of another year of the entirely unique TEDxLuxembourgCity 'Idea' competition.
Dirk Daenan and TedX social media intern Izy Rilak dropped by the Today Radio studio to tell The Home Stretch host Melissa Dalton all about the competition, how to apply and what an idea can be.
Set to take place on 21 March, the competition is tailored for individuals aged between 12 to 18-years-old and has the unique distinction of being the only TEDx event run as a national competition — as it is sponsored by Luxembourg's Ministry of Education.
While in the studio, they discuss the success of last year's winner — Caecilia Riedl — who is currently on her way to the Paralympics in Paris, as well as future TEDx events that may be entirely in Luxembourgish.

Who and what is eligible for the 'Idea' Competition?
Not only is Izy known to the Today Radio team as one of Melissa's public speaking students, but she's now been entrusted to get the word out about this year's 'Idea' competition. You can see her TikTok explaining the event here:
In short... come up with a cool idea and present it in one of two ways:
- Pen down your thoughts in a compelling 400-word essay
- Bring your idea to life in a captivating 3-minute video presentation
As for ideas: any idea you think is important and want others to know about. It could be advice, a unique solution, or something interesting you've noticed about the world.
Other crucial details
- Entries can be submitted in either Luxembourgish or English. The chosen language will determine the medium of presentation
- Submissions must be made via the official TEDxLuxembourgCity website
- Include personal details such as name, age, a clear photograph, a concise bio (approximately 50 words), the title of your idea, and your essay or video
- Act swiftly! The deadline for submissions is 23 February (with some wiggle room to 24 February for Today Radio listeners!)
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a special meeting on 1 March. Applicants are urged to ensure their availability for this significant date.
Tune into Melissa Dalton live on The Home Stretch on Today Radio every Monday to Friday from 4-7pm.
