Guests Jil Baustert, an Award alumnus, and Natasha Lepage, a representative from The Mérite Jeunesse Luxembourg, appeared on the The Sam Steen Show on Today Radio this Wednesday to discuss the award and its benefits.
The Mérite Jeunesse Luxembourg programme, part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, was launched in Luxembourg thirty years ago. The competition is broken down into four sections: service, sport, talent, and expedition. The competitions are held at the bronze, silver, or gold levels.
At the bronze level each section must be performed for at least six months, at the silver level the sections for at least twelve months, and at gold at least eighteen months.
The competition can highlight your own strengths, as you can choose whatever kinds of work or projects you wish to complete, or you can step out of your comfort zone and try new experiences.
Participants must be aged between 14 and 25. The competition is hosted through different organisations including the Scouts, boarding centres, and youth houses and schools. If you are interested in hosting The Mérite Jeunesse Luxembourg Award, check out their website for more information on how to sign up. The Award will provide each organisation with the proper training to host the competition.
