Laurent Vanot, a Think Pink committee member and a member of Sultry acapella, along with Karen Humphries, Sultry’s music director, spoke to Melissa Dalton on her show The Home Stretch on Today Radio.
Together they announced a charity concert performed by Luxembourg based, award winning acapella group, Sultry in which all proceeds will be given to Think Pink, an organization funding research for breast and ovarian cancer.
Think Pink is an international organization and Think Pink Luxembourg was founded in 2009. Marian Aldred, Laurent’s late wife who passed away in 2011 was a founding member of Think Pink Luxembourg. Laurent shared his story of losing his wife to ovarian cancer and discusses how she was a fighter and an inspiration to many.
In 2012, The Marian Aldred award was set up in Marian’s honour and finances a graduate or doctorate student to work closely with the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) researching both kinds of cancer. The branch typically raises €25,000 annually for the Marian Aldred award.
Think Pink holds different fundraising events regularly, but beyond that, they exist to offer support to those with cancer and their families. Think Pink Lux was made with ex-pats in mind; all of their information is in English.
The Sultry concert will be hosted at the Centre Culturel de Bonnevoie, starting at 8:00 PM sharp on June 30th. The concert itself is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to donate what they can. Guests will be provided seating and tables. There will also be a bar available. No reservation is required.
