A spectacular June awaits: A first heavy-metal ballet experience, Duke's night with fireworks and Robin Schulz, a spectacular circus, and plenty of plays in English.

Luxembourg's English Language theatre group NWTC, is bringing Oscar Wilde's most famous comedy, "The Importance of Being Earnest" to audiences in the Grand Duchy, in what is guaranteed to be a lively evening full of mistaken identities, clever wordplay and humorous social commentary.

For a night of folly, comedy and for newcomers to Shakespeare, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will lure you into the magic of Koerich Castle and the madness of love. Performed in Luxembourg for one night only by the American Drama Group Europe. Tickets are available online here.

15 June – Fete de la Musique – Luxembourg – MUSIC

Fete de la Musique is an event that goes on up and down the country, but the pinnacle of the nationwide festival is the one in Dudelange. The city turns into one big party and there are stages all over the place. Bounce around the city and discover all different types of music from local and international bands. One to put in the calendar, as it is free entry and a great day out for all ages. The full programme will be released on 25 May.

15 June – Medieval Festival – Useldange – FESTIVAL

Dress up as a knight or just visit the medieval market at the "Medieval Festival" in scenic Useldange. The event includes artisanal stalls, musicians and minstrels, a fire show, combats, childrens' activities, and medieval food and drink.

16 June – Glacis Market – Luxembourg City – MARKETS

The monthly Glacismaart is back. Taking place every third Sunday of the month, it's an unmissable meeting place for Sunday walkers, looking for fruits and vegetables, culinary delicacies, flowers, and plants.

18–19 June – Birmingham Royal Ballet – Grand Theatre – Luxembourg City - BALLET

After a world premiere and a British tour last year, Black Sabbath – The Ballet promises a spectacular theatrical evening featuring thrilling dances, alongside full orchestrations of legendary Black Sabbath tracks. Black Sabbath themselves have been involved in this collaboration – calling it the first true heavy metal ballet experience.

22 June – Duke's Night – Luxembourg City – MUSIC/MEET

It's one of Luxembourg's biggest traditions – night celebrations, a torchlit procession through the city, free concerts, and fireworks ahead of Nationalfeierdag, National Day and also known as the Grand Duke's official birthday. This year's highlights for the City Sounds music festival, includes the German DJ and producer Robin Schulz on Saturday night. With a large stage expected on the Glacis car park, a full line up will be announced soon. Concert is free of charge.

23 June – Nationalfeierdag – Luxembourg City – MEET/MUSIC

The official celebrations start with the official ceremony at the Philharmonie at 10am, followed by a 21-gun salute fired in the Grand Duke's honour. The military then performs its annual parade along Avenue de la Liberte. On top of the official ceremonies, there is the traditional Spillfest (games event) on the Kinnekswiss in Luxembourg City. And last but not least, you will have a chance to catch the Californian US rock band Toto belting out classics like Africa and Hold the line on the Glacis.

25 June – Body Count – Rockhal – Esch-Belval – MUSIC

If you are following the Temple of Metal shows at the Rockhal, you are going to love Body Count featuring Ice-T.  Body Count's music is a fusion of thrash metal, punk rock and hip-hop with lyrics that address themes of social justice, police brutality and racial inequality. 26–28 June – Le lac des cygnes – Grand Theatre – Luxembourg City – DANCE

Catch the end of season at the Grand Theatre with this reworking of the classical ballet, Swan Lake. Retaining most of Tschaikovsky's score, the is the Swan Lake fairytale, retold through contemporary dance and reset in a modern day city.

28 - 30 June - Transition Days - Schluechthaus Hollerich -  FESTIVAL

For a foray into how local action can contribute to social change, head for the Schluechthaus in Hollerich for a three-day festival of discussions, debates, conferences, democratic citizens' assemblies, exhibitions, games, repair cafés, initiation to agro-ecological practices, tips and tricks for energy sobriety, swap of objects and clothing.

28 June – Smashing Pumpkins – Luxexpo – Kirchberg – MUSIC

Come and see the iconic band, led by Billy Corgan at the first Luxexpo Open Air gig. The Smashing Pumpkins have been captivating audiences for decades with hits like "1979", "Tonight, Tonight". With Special Guest: INTERPOL. Tickets and info here.

29 June – Siren's Call – Neumünster Abbey –  Luxembourg City – FESTIVAL

The Siren's Call festival is set to captivate audiences once again at Luxembourg City's historic Neumünster Abbey, boasting an eclectic lineup that includes international artists like Bombay Bicycle Club as well as Luxembourg's own Francis of Delirium, in a day filled with music & culture. Children and families can look forward to additional entertainment in the form of Minimënster kid shows and special events from karaoke to yoga sessions and 'Nuits des Lampions' lantern festival. 29 June – End-of-Season Party – Philharmonie – Luxembourg City – PARTY

Luxembourg's Philharmonie turns into a gigantic dancefloor and hosts a 100% electro party for their End-of-Season Party. From NTO's "melodic techno" to British rising star Yazzus, DJ sets will go on until the end of the night.

29 June – Euros – Luxembourg City – SPORT

Watch the Euros live on a huge screen on the Glacis. To mark the European Football Championship, which will be held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July, Luxembourg City Council is organising public viewings on a giant 50 square-metre screen on the Glacis car park. Starts with the first quarter-final matches, tarting on 29 June.
