With a vibrant Irish community present in Luxembourg, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated annually on 17 March in the Grand Duchy. Here are some top tips.

In Luxembourg City and beyond, you will find events taking place for both children and adults. To coincide with St Patrick’s Day, the Embassy of Ireland in Luxembourg has compiled a list of some celebrations taking place this weekend.

For the kids

For a fun and lively afternoon of traditional Irish dancing, sure to tire the little ones out, a St Patrick’s Day céilí for kids will be hosted by Comhaltas Luxembourg on Saturday, 16 March at 2pm at the Centre Culturel Cessange. There will be live music and performances from local Comhaltas musicians and dancers. Tickets are €5 and you can pay at the door.

Eirlux in Howald will host its own Irish dancing session on Sunday, 17 March from 3.30pm. There will be small céilí dances with families during the afternoon. Children can go dressed in their best St. Patricks Day outfits. Address: Eirelux Pub, 40 Rue des Bruyères, 1274 Howald Hesperange.

For the grown-ups

The Irish Club of Luxembourg is organising a St Patrick’s Dinner at the Melia Hotel, Kirchberg on Thursday, 14 March. Drinks will start at 6.30pm followed by a three-course dinner at 7.30pm. The St Patrick’s Celebration will include Irish dancing and live music from “Alizeti.” Places to be reserved by email to: party@irishclub.lu. For more information visit https://irishclub.lu/.

There will be an adults’ ceili, again hosted by Comhaltas Luxembourg, taking place on Saturday evening, 16 March at the Centre Culturel Cessange, 1 Rue St Joseph, 1838 Cessange Luxembourg. Tickets are €10 and can be bought at the door. Doors open 19.30 and the céilí dancing starts at approximately 8pm.

The St Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl on Saturday, 16 March at 8.30pm starts at Rocas Bar (33 Rue de Capucins, 1313 Ville-Haute, Luxembourg) and will lead you through a series of bars, ending in a club. Tickets are mandatory and a limit of 80 spots are available. Organisers suggest wearing something green to immerse yourself in the authentic St Patrick’s Day atmosphere.

Between 14-16 March the Zeltik Festival will take place in Dudelange. This year will be the 26th edition of the Zeltik Festival. Music acts include Celtic Legends, The Kilkennys, Brian Brody, Ryan Young, Gwennyn, Startijenn and Noon. Find out more by visiting Zeltik 2024.

From 15- 17 March, a number of Luxembourg’s pubs will be in full swing with live music in various venues such as the Black Stuff, Éirelux, Urban, Kantin and Casino 2000.

The British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg will be holding its 2024 Spring Edition from 18-23 March 2024, with all screenings at the Ciné Utopia in Limpertsberg.

The festival features exciting Irish productions, independent cinema and special guests, including Irish actors and directors. The festival will include 13 feature-length films from a cross-section of genres and five short films.

Finally, this year’s Feast of St Patrick Mass will take place at 11am on Sunday, 17 March at Église Saint Pie X, on Avenue Gaston Diderich in Belair. All are welcome.
