Welcome to the weekend! Enjoy a free fado festival in Larochette, see brocante fair, walk the art in the City or celebrate LuxCon.

1. Hear Australian folk duo Hollow Coves

What: Intimate indie folk
Where: Opderschmelz, 1a Rue du Centenaire, 3475 Dudelange
When: Friday, 12 April at 7pm - info & tickets

Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins of Hollow Coves started gaining recognition several years ago after their music went viral on Spotify. At the 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards, the duo took home two awards: Breakout Artist of the Year and Song of the Year with “Coastline.” Catch their intimate folk songs at Opderschmelz this Friday. 2. Visit antiques and brocante fair

Don’t miss Luxembourg’s biggest antiques and second-hand fair this weekend, where international and national exhibitors convene at LuxExpo. Find antiques, fine second-hand jewellery, pre-war and post-war toys, Dinky Toys, Matchbox, hundreds of books, collectables and other curiosities from yesteryear. This huge fair will be a unique time travel machine back to the 19th and 20th centuries!

3. Walk the art in the city centre

What: Guided tour of urban art
Where: Starting point is Place Guillaume II
When: Friday, 12 April at 5pm - info & tickets

During this two-hour guided tour, explore the different works of art specially created for public spaces. These monuments were not erected to commemorate a person or event, but were placed in urban spaces solely because of their aesthetics. The starting point of the tour is Place Guillaume II, followed by Villa Vauban and Musée d’Art de la Ville de Luxembourg, amongst others.

4. Celebrate fantasy at LuxCon

What: With special guests

LuxCon is back this weekend, celebrating all things fantasy, science fiction and horror. International writers, actors and performers come together for this 10th edition, with workshops, activities and a Cosplay Contest. Guest of honour is Eric Stillwell, Script Coordinator for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Insurrection, who will host two presentations about his life with the iconic shows.

5. See Kung Fu Panda 4

What: Adventure/Animation

Po must train a new warrior when he’s chosen to become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. However, when a powerful shape-shifting sorceress sets her eyes on his Staff of Wisdom, he suddenly realises he’s going to need some help. Teaming up with a quick-witted corsac fox, Po soon discovers that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

6. Attend Pineway album release

What: Indie metal

Local alt-rockers Pineway are set to release their second album “Echosystem” at the Floor of the Rockhal this weekend. Grungy guitars meet indie keys and metal-like drums and bass, topped off with introspective lyrics. Catch this alternative indie release on Friday night!

7. Enjoy fado music around Larochette

What: From Portugal with love
Where: All over Larochette city centre
When: Saturday, 13 April as of 2pm - FREE - more info here

The picturesque town of Larochette is transforming into an open-air fado festival on the weekend, with various acts playing Portuguese music in cafés and bars. It all starts at 2pm and ends at 10pm. Grab a drink, enjoy the music, and hop over to the next locale - it’s all walking distance.
