The City of Dudelange is hosting a mobility day on Saturday. On the agenda is an initiation course to soft mobility (cycling, scooters, skateboards) for children aged 6-12, a pedal-generated smoothie (literally pedal hard to get your smoothie after), bicycle encoding/registration by the Grand Ducal Police (against robbers!), bike repairs, cycling battles and a virtual city tour on two-wheelers. A sporty day with lots of entertainment. Oh, and refreshments/food available too if you want to compensate for the burned off calories.

Maxime Bender is one of Luxembourg’s finest jazz saxophonists (and also the director of the Trifolion Echternach). His troupe Universal Sky have released their new album “Rise & Fall” today, and it is guaranteed to be a treat. We at RTL Today love sharing local music, and as the weather this weekend is not set to be great, some groovy jazz made in Luxembourg could fit just perfectly on a Saturday afternoon. Oldtimerday (not a spelling mistake, the event is written as one word) is all about sharing a passion and interest for old vehicles. Participants can be national clubs, museums which directly or indirectly have a link with historic vehicles, companies which are active in the restoration and maintenance of old vehicles as well as industrial and technical sites, and private enthusiasts. The Jardin de Wiltz will once again transform into a sea of lights this weekend, because Nuits des Lampions is back for its annual, three-day festival. Experience mysterious light installations, live concerts and vibrant art performances between Friday and Sunday. The full programme (click here) is both international and varied. This film is for everyone afraid of heights. The reviews have been coming in...and people are literally leaving the cinema halls with sweaty palms and high levels of anxiety. Fall is about friends Becky and Hunter, who like to chase fears and push their limits. However, after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now, their expert climbing skills are put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights. To be watched on a big screen (and bring a puke bag, maybe?)

To close off the summer season, the public swimming pool of Remich is hosting a “Muppeschwammen” day - bring your dog along to the pool (dog vaccination certificate required) and let them enjoy the waters dedicated to dogs only. (This editor can’t his dog to swim anywhere, but hopefully yours does).

The last event recommendation is for Monday and Tuesday, but it’s a special one: Simon Rattle & the London Symphony Orchestra. One of the world’s leading orchestras, the orchestra comes to the Philharmonie not for one, but two concerts. On Monday, Sir Simon Rattle conducts Jean Sibelius and a composition by young British composer Daniel Kidane. On Tuesday, Rattle leads soloists, chorus and orchestra through Gustav Mahler’s monumental Second Symphony. An incredible two days if you love classical music - the top players are in town.
