What: Musical comedy on labour dispute and woman in the workplace
Where: Grand Theatre, Rond-point Schuman, 2525 Luxembourg
When: Friday, 31 December at 7pm - info & tickets
This musical comedy is based on the 1953 novel 7½ Cents by Richard Bissell: A strike is imminent at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory. The union, led by Babe, is seeking a pay rise, but the superintendent, despite being in opposite camps, falls in love with her. The original 1954 musical opened on Broadway during the McCarthy era, when its labour dispute story might have seemed more provocative. But the battle-of-the-sexes struggle of the downtrodden women in the workplace still resonates today. The sparky comedy remains fresh and catchy tunes, in English, add to the energy.

Alfred Seiland, a well-known Austrian photographer, is exhibiting 60 photographs from his Iran series, which he began in 2017. Similar to his previous project, Iran Between Times draws on the interplay between past and present and the ways in which people relate to it. The selection encompasses landscape photographs, illustrating the rich and complex history of Iran, as well as photographs of unadulterated scenes from everyday Iranian life. With this project, the photographer aims to challenge the viewer to critically think about how Western media oftentimes fail to represent an unprejudiced and unbiased view of the former Persian Empire, and to reflect at the same time on the major socio-political topics that are at the forefront of Iran’s society today.
Tip: A program of educational events is planned alongside the exhibition, including workshops, themed tours and a lecture series. Check out the agenda online.

To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, Mr. Anderson, aka Neo, will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. If he’s learned anything, it’s that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of - or into - the Matrix. Neo already knows what he has to do, but what he doesn’t yet know is that the Matrix is stronger, more secure and far more dangerous than ever before...
What: Become a better person
Where: Anywhere
When: A quiet moment in the day
It’s the time of the year when we promise ourselves to go to the gym more frequently, save up more of our salary, read a book a month, visit a place we’ve never been before, learn a new skill or quit smoking. Truth is you can do all of it! You just have to find the willingness and passion to go for it with 200%. Take an afternoon to reflect on the past year and the year ahead, and jot down some things you’d like to change - often old school pen and paper works much better than your phone.
