If you have ever wondered where most people in Luxembourg get the best sushi, then your search is now over thanks to our readers' top 20 list.

For some, it is one of the best, if not the best, dishes in Japanese, and perhaps all Asian, cuisine. For others, it does not live up to the hype, and some even react with revulsion. We are, of course, speaking of the dish that combines raw fish and rice: sushi. According to Wikipedia, sushi came to Europe in the second half of the 20th century, all the way from Japan. Throughout the 1950s and 60s, sushi's popularity grew exponentially. Today, sushi masters can be found everywhere around the world. Sushi's history in Japan, however, dates back much earlier, with some of the earliest mentions in scriptures from the 8th century.

Today, sushi has become an integral part of our culinary habits. The combination of raw fish and sushi rice is what makes this dish so special to some, but also what repels others.

Fortunately, sushi now offers many alternatives that do not use raw fish for those who are less fond of it. Sushi can now be made with chicken, vegetables, and even fruit. It's not only the ingredients of sushi that have evolved, but also the forms it takes. From maki and nigiri to inari-zushi and oshi-zushi, the options have become endless.

But who in Luxembourg offers the best sushi? We asked our readers, and the results are in.

Rank 1: Uni in Schieren

In-house recommendation: Uni Rolls (chef's special)

Our readers' top choice is Uni in Schieren. Since its opening in 2017, the restaurant and its team have risen to near stardom. The number of customers has increased year after year, explain owners Sun Yue and her husband, Jin Qun Yi. Jin, who is also the sushi master. He likes to constantly create new dishes and combine new flavours to delight the restaurant's customers. This creativity is what he enjoys most and what keeps clients coming back.

The couple is overjoyed by the trust so many people have in their restaurant, which motivates them to keep going. Receiving the top spot was unexpected for them; they believed they would rank much lower. Their customers, however, would argue otherwise.

Many people love to order the "Surprise" Combo-Platter, where the chef specially selects the sushi for a unique experience. The Uni-Rolls are also extremely popular, and offer a more special type of Roll. Originally from China, where sushi is less common than in Japan, the couple still enjoys eating sushi once or twice a week with their children and family.
