Our German neighbours have remained reliable in naming their children - the names Ben and Emma remain the most popular options for newborns.
For the ninth consecutive time, 'Ben' has remained the most popular name for young boys in Germany.
Last in the top spot in 2014, 'Emma' has moved up to be the most popular name for girls.
Name researcher Knud Bielefeld published the statistics, as usual every year. Bielefeld's team analysed nearly 180,000 birth announcements over the past twelve months.
Emma also reigns supreme in France, as the most popular girl's name. The most popular boy's name was 'Gabriel'.
