Job Description

Responsibilities

• Contribute regional insights and executional leadership to the overall global category strategy.
• Develop, lead, and manage strategic sourcing initiatives within the region to support global objectives.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regional Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) suppliers, ensuring performance and resolving operational issues.
• Collaborate with Global Sourcing Managers and Lane Leaders to align regional plans with global procurement goals.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives to support annual budget targets, including tracking of purchase price variance (PPV) and material cost savings.
• Monitor and provide updates on purchase order status; act as the next escalation point beyond the Purchasing Manager.
• Deliver critical input on supplier lead times, capacity, and variability to inform inventory management and supply planning.
• Identify and communicate potential supply shortages and readiness risks.
• Ensure all regional materials are shipped in alignment with lead time requirements.
• Act as the on-site representative ("Boots on Site") during supplier escalations to investigate, report, and resolve production or quality issues.
• Support supplier audits in collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs).
• Partner with the supplier quality team on commodity-specific challenges, driving root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant federal/state regulations, and internal policies, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in technical and commercial supplier evaluations.
• Strong track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and supplier development efforts.
• Background in tool steel alloys and/or surface engineering a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Commodity Manager, Sourcing Manager, or equivalent role, with a strong regional network and understanding of key market drivers.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results with deep knowledge of commodities and strong sense of ownership.
• Proven experience in developing and executing regional sourcing strategies.
• Solid technical understanding of manufacturing processes for relevant commodities.
• Experience in new product introduction, including technical feasibility assessments and supplier capabilities.
• Strong understanding of total landed cost, basic cost accounting principles, and inventory optimization.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process mapping.
• Skilled negotiator with strong analytical capabilities and strategic thinking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other analytical tools.
• Highly organized with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
• Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
• Experience working in a global, cross-functional team environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel regionally or internationally to evaluate suppliers, technologies, and new opportunities.
• Fluent English
• Additional languages such as German considered a strong asset
