The Lake of Echternach is definitely one of the top destination for families in and around Luxembourg.
At the lake, parents and children can enjoy numerous activities like swimming and playing at the playgrounds. The paved paths are also great for riding bikes, jogging, or simply walking and talking. On a sunny day, you can also barbecue, play pétanque and enjoy the pedal boats.
Near the lake, you can visit the Roman Villa. At times, there are also festivals that happen nearby, such as the e-lake Festival.
If you’d like to stay overnight, consider the Youth Hostel where your family can make use of the climbing wall and trampolines.
The city center of Echternach is really beautiful, and you can explore its vibrant atmosphere, narrow streets and the picturesque architecture on foot.
You can also head to the bridge and look at the swans and the river. Crossing the bridge will take you to Germany.
Echternach has four playgrounds.
1. Adventure Playground Echternach
This is the big playground by the lake, opposite the Roman Villa. There are fun elements for both smaller and bigger children as well as sanitary facilities next to it.

This playground is located at the City Park and has a swing, slide, seesaw, sandpit, playhouse, gymnastics equipment and climbing frame.

From Echternach you are not far from the Aquatower Berdorf. The Aquatower has breathtaking views, and your family can learn more about water and how it is managed and brought to households.
There is also a small water playground for the children to enjoy as well as thematic events that take place throughout the year.
From Echternach, you can travel very easily to Germany and more specifically to the Dinosaurs Park. There, you and the children can learn a lot about dinosaurs in a playful way, and enjoy a playground, shop and a restaurant. The Dinosaurs are displayed in real life size and children get to dig for dino fossils.
The visitor center of Teufelsschlucht is few meters after the main entrance of the dinosaurs park. It displays fauna and flora of the region and it is the starting point for hiking trails. Enjoy being surrounded by a beautiful forest and wear comfortable shoes to go exploring.
Walk on the new bridge where you can enjoy waterfall views. Not only will children like the adventure of crossing the bridge, the sound of the running water will also please them.
The famous Petite Suisse located at Naturpark Mellerdall, is perfect for exploring with the family with its impressive rock formations and breathtaking nature. You will also discover other amazing playgrounds like the one in Herringen Millen which is also a water playground.
Rosport is not far from Echternach and has 2 main attractions that children will love: The Henri Tudor Museum, an interactive museum about electricity, and another awesome water playground.
