Located in the heart of amazing natural scenery, this is probably the most beautiful castle in our region together with Vianden Castle in Luxembourg.
The castle has been owned by the same family for over 850 years. It is open to visitors from April until 1 November inclusive and visits and guided tours are possible every day.

You may know that the Eifel area is volcanic. The Lava Dome Museum presents volcanism in the region in an interactive way: In the Land of Volcanoes a multimedia show tells the story of two huge volcanic eruptions in the area, and the Volcano Workshop is a fantastic small science centre with 10 interactive tests and experimental stations.

For families that enjoy cycling this is an absolute must in the Eifel area!
It begins at Daun which is in the heart of UNESCO Volcanic Eifel Nature Park and Geopark. This area is very famous, not least because of the maars. A maar is a volcanic crater created by a steam-explosion when rising magma meets underground water, and they are spectacular to see.
The route runs between Daun and Bernkaste-Kues with almost no climbs, which makes it really enjoyable for families with children.
Enjoy viaducts, bridges, tunnels, forests, maars and extinct volcanoes, all while cycling!

This hiking trail is fantastic for children: It is a 1.5km long discovery path in the Eifel National Park.
During the hike, visitors will learn about the evolution of the forest, the diversity of the fauna and flora of the park, as well as what effects storms have in the forests etc.
The views along the wooden path are simply amazing. It is also accessible to strollers.

This wildlife park is located in a vast unspoiled are in the Vulkaneifel. Visitors can do a type of safari with the car and stop to admire the animals in their natural setting.
There are also numerous feeding stations that allow visitors to feed the animals respectfully and admire them from very close-up.

A volcanic crater with water: a miracle of nature and the best preserved maar in the Eifel region; it is also one of the 12 remaining in the area filled with water.

This little town will enchant you no matter which time of the year you visit. I have to admit though that personally I like Monschau during winter and more specifically when it is decorated for the festive period in December.
In Monschau the rhythms are slow: you need to park your car at the entrance of the town and enjoy it on foot. Children will ask you if they are inside a fairy tale book.
The cobbled stone streets, the typical timber homes of the region, and the ambience of old times, make Monschau a true gem in the region.

Situated just next to the Eifel National Park, this park is home to native wild animals, tame domestic and farm animals, and a beautiful plant world.
There is a walking trail of 5km, a cafe and bistro, and a shorter farm tour with cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and poultry as well as a large adventure playground..

A great experience for the whole family, this centre exhibits archaeological findings and explains the natural history of the area in an interactive way.
Regular events such as fossil hunts, insights into beekeeping, or a look at the Roman life will make your visit even more interesting.
