Lisa Burke shares her experiences as an expat mom, public speaker, and scientist, while offering advice on parenting and making Luxembourg feel like home.

Mom Life in Luxembourg is a new parenting podcast made for all English speaking parents here in Luxembourg. From crèches to crémant, we'll cover everything you need to know about raising kids and living your best life in the Grand Duchy.

Please note that even though the podcast is called Mom Life, dad's are absolutely welcome! There will be at least two on the show coming up!

This podcast is meant to be a resource, and was really inspired by my own hard landing. I moved here about 2 years ago from Southern California. I was a trailing spouse with 3 little boys, the youngest was only 7 months old when we arrived. I was kind of running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to navigate all the things without being able to speak a word of French, German or Luxembourgish. I basically felt like I couldn't function as an adult.

So if you are currently in that boat, or were once in that boat, I am here for you. This show will cover themes like identity, mental load, building community, making friends, career pivots, picking schools, starting businesses, and really explore what it means to be a mom (or dad!) making it work in Luxembourg.

Trailing spouse. Moving to Luxembourg with little ones. Building a new home in a foreign country. Picking the best schools for your children. Going through a divorce within the first year of moving here. Raising kids as a single mother in Luxembourg. Do any of these sound familiar to you? For the very first episode of Mom Life, I was lucky enough to interview the lovely Lisa Burke.

Many people know of Lisa Burke, but not many people know about who she is. Top level, Lisa Burke hosts a successful podcast also on Today Radio, called The Lisa Burke Show. She was also a presenter for Sky News, an acclaimed public speaker, scientist and singer and a mom raising two teenagers.

But she also has a lot of life parallels with many moms here in Luxembourg, including all of those life events listed above. She joins me in the studio to talk about how she managed to navigate it all, and stay positive along the way.

This episode is filled with such gems for this period in our lives. She talks about how she was able to do things that everybody knows they should do, but things that can often be placed on the back burner – like how to trust your gut, take control of your own time, and move forward with big life decisions, even if they're scary.

She talks about the major benefits of expat life, the gifts she has been able to give her children, and how she has made Luxembourg her home. This episode really elevates the discourse on what so many moms in Luxembourg face at one time or another. I do hope you can find a moment to listen, and that you enjoy the show!
