According to Channel News Asia and Newsweek, the Indonesian government is pursuing legal action against an unknown entity who impersonated the national Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO) on adult entertainment website Pornhub.
The ministry has publicly denied that they created the verified account in question. On Twitter, they claimed that they were working cooperating with law enforcement to prosecute the unknown creator or creators of the account for falsifying information.
The profile description read: “Official Pornhub Account of Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia - Served to oversee and guarantee the public in enjoying the video and to bust the nut.”
Pornhub has meanwhile removed the account. Access to the website has been blocked in Indonesia since 2017. Suspects convicted of producing or sharing adult entertainment face up to 6 years behind bars.
Fun fact: Pornhub is owned by Mindgeek, which is registered in... you guessed it: Luxembourg.
