The finalists for the 2025 Luxembourg Film Prize have been announced, setting the stage for the biennial awards ceremony to be held on 22 November at the Grand Théâtre.

The Luxembourg Film Academy has announced the finalists for the 2025 Luxembourg Film Prize, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 22 November at the Grand Théâtre.

Now in its 11th edition, the biennial prize will honour the best artistic achievements from the last two years across 14 categories. A new award for Best Screenplay has been introduced for this year's event.

Film Academy President Fred Neuen stated that it was "high time" to recognise Luxembourgish screenwriters. He recalled that at the first awards in 2003, the industry relied on juries who felt local screenplays had not yet reached a satisfactory level. "Today, however, our writers are at a level where they have certainly earned an award," Neuen said.

Guy Daleiden, Director of the Film Fund, emphasised the importance of national recognition for Luxembourg's filmmakers. "When you see that our filmmakers and our films receive international recognition [...] then it's also important to receive recognition in your own country," he noted, adding that the biennial event is "eagerly awaited."

The ceremony at the Grand Théâtre will be hosted by Emma Da Silva, with musical accompaniment from Maz and Sergio Manique. The event is being organised by Fabio Godinho and Anne Klein.

Academy members will select the winners in a final round of voting from 3-9 October.
