Welcome to the weekend! Whether you want to create your own homemade (alcohol free) cocktail, take your kids for a bike ride along the Moselle, watch the Champions League games, explore clothing stores or enjoy an excellent selection of music: we've got you covered.
1. Hear No Metal In This Battle + La Bofia at Congés Annulés
What: Afro post-punk and vintage 60s
Where: 3, Place des Rotondes — L‑2448 Luxembourg-Bonnevoie
When: Friday, 7 August at 8pm - reservation required
Hailing from Luxembourg, afro post-punk quartet No Metal in This Battle is very much influenced by Nigerian afro-beat, post-rock and math-rock mixed with a punk attitude. Their live shows always turn into a spiritual and powerful sharing experience with their audience. La Bofia, meanwhile, sounds fresh but vintage, simple but complex, dark but joyful, exotic yet so close to home. It’s our parents’ 60s classics brought back to life from the depths of our musical nightmares in the shape of pop music, the French way.

5. Apéro Jazz with Giuseppe Millaci & Vogue Trio
What: Wake up to free jazz concert
Where: Neimënster, 28 Rue Münster, 2160 Luxembourg
When: Sunday, 9 August at 11am - information and reservation here
Vogue Trio is made complete with Amaury Faye, one of the most promising French pianist of his generation, not to mention the Belgian drummer Lionel Beuvens' great touch and finesse. Together they feature original jazz compositions, pulling the listener in a beautifully abstract, yet accessible musical landscape. The dynamic range and intricacy of their sound is performed with sincerity and charm, effortlessly traversing genres including classical and blues. The music reflects their travel experiences, and the trio has shed light for this opus on a series of concerts in Central America that have proved to be a key moment in the evolution of the band.

6. Watch Champions League games
What: Football at its best
Where: Several locations
When: Friday, 7 August and Saturday, 8 August at 9pm
It feels a little strange not seeing fans in the stadiums when these phenomenal teams are clashing for the cup, but at least we can gather (safely, with distance) in public to watch the game. Friday evening sees Juventus vs Lyon, and Manchester City vs Real Madrid. Bayern Munich plays Chelsea on Saturday, besides Barcelona vs Napoli. Culture Bar and Shamrock will both show the games.

7. Make your own (alcohol free) cocktails at home
What: Refreshing summer drinks
Where: Everywhere's a good cocktail place
When: Anytime, it's hot
It's a scorcher of a weekend again, folks, so you better stay hydrated. Many may want to stay away from alcohol with the burning sun, so why not improvise a couple of refreshing, fruity summer cocktails? Ask the kids to help out with the shaking. You'll need plenty of ice and berries, and off you go - delicious.
